I wonder if the other leagues will follow suit?

Really great idea I think, particularly for Junior hockey. Last few Mooseheads games I went to before COVID it felt like there was barely time for hockey - every single whistle throughout the whole game was followed by a half dozen facewashes or a fight. Brought my kids to a game last year and it was already a lot better, so I'm glad to hear they're going even farther with this.

John Farinacci is a college UFA on August 15th, 2023, from Harvard. Do the Habs have any interest? 6foot 190pound RH shooting RW. Chose not to sign with Arizona. Could be a quicker path to the NHL with the Habs. From New Jersey, but New Jersey is loaded. Might be worth a look?

Former NHL defenseman Janne Niinimaa was recently found guilty by a Helsinki court of tax fraud for failing to report over 300,000 euros in earnings from the United States in 2020. It was determined that he still owes nearly 55,000 euros in income tax in his native Finland. Niinimaa, 48, received a four-month suspended sentence and must pay those back taxes as well as cover the court costs and pay a standard crime victim fee.

During the All-Star Event’s press conference, the NHL’s commissioner, Gary Bettman, stated some interesting things about the future of the NHL. On Jan. 24, 2024, a statement was released regarding expansion and the interest drawn from Smith Entertainment Group (SEG) about how they requested the NHL to begin the expansion process formally. This would certainly come into question at Bettman’s next conference, and in answering a question about it, he mentioned that there has been interest drawn from Houston, Atlanta, Kansas City, Omaha, Cincinnati, and, of course, Salt Lake City. Characterized as all being in very early, preliminary discussions, it is clear that nothing is certain or imminent with any of these potential expansion locations, but it was quite interesting to hear some of these names. How likely is it for an NHL market to thrive in these locations? Is there a building already? Those are great questions, and much more need to be answered to truly consider their potential locations. NHL news, but is it really?

I like the PWHL 3/2/1 point system..........a little too advanced for Bettman since it doesn't prop up weak franchises to the extent he needs to get more expansion fees. A watered down product with manufactured parity better suits Bettman's business plan.

Univerity of New Brunswick hockey team won a perfect season of 30 straight wins, a record for university hockey teams. So, shoutout to UNB.

The OHL is investigating the Sudbury Wolves after an apparent rumour circulated that a bounty was placed on a Barrie Colts player .
Apparently the Barrie player laid out a Wolves player in a game with a hard hit , he then had to fight a Wolves player
Next time the two teams met , the Barrie player was kept out of the game due to the rumour that a bounty was placed on him

My friend's son was ordered by Dale Hunter to fight and take out an opponent of the Knights well over 15 years ago. Hunter was hot miked and they picked it up. Hunter was suspended for several games. My friends son, challenged the player but he refused to drop the gloves. I am not surprised stuff like this still happens.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, one of the largest property owners in Salt Lake City, has voiced its support of legislation that would help bring an NHL team to the Utah capital.

UNB vs UQTR for the Canadian University Championship at 5 PM EST on St Paddy's Day. The best University hockey program in the country with unsurprisingly the best university hockey team in the country will complete their undefeated season later today by winning the National Championship. It will not be shown on Canadian TV due to the availability of repeats of the Great British Baking Show, and the Big Bang Theory on our national networks. Our Canadian sports channels will cover NASCAR, Golf, Tennis, time delayed FA soccer and a New Jersey hockey game. The sports channels I can understand not giving a damn about a Canadian game with no Toronto team in it but the CBC passing up a National Championship in favour of a repeat foreign cooking show while paying bonuses to their executives................... bring on the defund!!!! The game may be available on CBC streaming platforms. GO REDS GO!!!
