Oliver Kapanen is doing very well with 10 points in 7 Liiga playoff games.

Florian Xhekaj having a stellar season. Now into the playoffs. Yeah, some eyebrows were raised when he was picked but it looks like the team may have been on to something. He could well end up being a regular nhler (albeit bottom 6) which is not too shabby for a 4th rounder.

Florian Xhekaj's minor career is now over. What happens next?

Florian Xhekaj's minor career is now over. What happens next? Unlike Arber, Florian was drafted and as an overage 19 year old with the low odds 4th round pick. I expect him to get signed to an entry level contract. I am not so sure about Oliver Kapanen despite his recent success. Kapanen has not shown much year over year improvement, but maybe Laval needs a few more forwards.

The Canadiens have agreed to terms on a three-year, entry-level contract (2024-25 to 2026-27) with forward Florian Xhekaj.
I watched a video a few weeks ago where they suggested Florian liekly would have gone in the 2nd round, possibly late 1st based on his improvement this season. It will be interesting to see if he can become a regular NHLer. So far, so good.

as RCAF48 noted in another thread........... Denver ends Hutson's NCAA season in Frozen Four semi-final. I say "Bummer". Maybe we see him sooner than later? THAT would be a game worth watching. Final game. youtu.be/hdUUqhudSgULuke Tuch Goal - 2:00 Lane Hutson with a Slick Move & no Call - 15:46 Lane Hutson with an Almost Highlight Reel Goal - 19:30

Unfortunately Jacob Fowler & Boston College lose to Denver 2-0 in NCAA championship game. Looked really solid this year. Goalies are always a crapshoot (thus us selecting so many of them last draft) but i think there's a legit chance this kid is the real deal in a few years.

The Canadiens have loaned Barron, Mailloux, Roy and Struble to the Laval Rocket. Roy has been cleared to return to play.

Just noticed that the Habs ECHL Team - the Trois-Rivières Lions made the playoffs. Didn't seem like an option but maybe they all make the playoffs!

That should help although if i understadn correctly, even if they win their last 2 games they will need some help to make the playoffs. Hopefully its enough of a push. Really exciting that guys like Mailloux and Roy and recently Reinbacher are down there doing well, while our best players on the main roster are all like 20-25 years old (except for Matheson). This future is bright!

This future is bright! My understanding is that the Rocket just need to win their last two games against Belleville in regulation and they're in. They're 4 points back of Belleville but they own the tie-break. So any OT game or loss and they're out, but they still technically control their own destiny.

Filip Mesar finishes his junior career as the Kitchener rangers are eliminated by the powerhouse London Kights He had a good playoff run - 16 points in 10 games. Smallish fast playmaking RW will be interesting to see how he fits in the development process. I believe the Habs drafted him with some thoughts of synergy with Slafkovsky as others imo could have been better choices (eg Kulich). A bit of duplication at wing as RW Mesar, RW Gally who we are stuck with for at least 1 year before thoughts of a buyout, RW (left shot) Farrell, LW RHP, RW Ylonen, L shot C Riley Kidney ( who imo unlikely to make it as a Centre) LW Simoneau all play small. I would think Mesar could be a prospect of interest to another team with our Winnipeg pick or others to move up in the draft or target someone else.

Owen Beck and the Saginaw Spirit move on after a hard fought 4-3 series win over the Soo Greyhounds. On paper Beck didn't really show much, with 3 assists & a -1 rating with a faceoff % of 53. The Spirit now take on the undefeated London Knights. Should be a good series. Let's hope Beck steps it up!

I do wonder whether he'll be in our long term plans but I cant see him being traded before he gets a shot with the big club. Guess we'll see. I wonder if they will try him at centre in Laval....
