Getting pretty sick of the endless clickbait trade destination headlines about Monahan and Allen! It is lazy! there is other stuff to write about other than fantasy trade that the writers have no proof off just an opinion! Some of the writers should know better if they want to be considered journalists! In my neck of the woods every player on the trade block is going to the Leafs.

Some of those sites have even admitted, they throw Toronto or Montreal or another popular team into the mix just to get clicks. Honestly if you asked Hughes i bet he doenst even know for sure what he's going to do with some guys. Im sure there's 6-8 guys he's considering moving (and would love to get rid of at least 3-4 of them) but if the return is a 3rd rounder i could see him holding on to certain people tbh. We'll see. I suspect Monahan will get dealt. I think there's a good chance Allen goes. I think there's an outside chance a guy like Matheson or Savard is moved (but not both). Beyond that, there are guys im sure Hughes would like to move (Gallagher, Dvo, Armia) that almost certainly wont get traded and other guys he'd consider moving (Evans, Harris, Kovacevic, RHP) if the price was right. He's not actively shopping them, but aside from the core 6-8 players i think he'd entertain an offer on anyone.

He moved Toffoli and Leks because it made sense and both were good players just bad timing considering where we were at. All the noise is a pain though they could write about players that are staying and developing too!

I’m not so sure Savard gets traded without 50% salary retention and even then what would that return look like? Just doesn’t seems that too many contenders want an aging physical shutdown shot blocking 5-6 pairing dman. I still say at $1.75m investment by another team for the season after this, $1.15m of Savard could be buried in minors and he would only be a $600k cap hit mistake = low risk. Certainly a depth move by a contender, but I could see the RHD next year being Barron, Mailloux, Reinbacher, Kovacevic not necessarily in that order.

The NHL-leading Winnipeg Jets are believed to be looking for centre help and depth on the blueline as the trade deadline creeps closer on March 8.

/photo/1 Interesting diatribe....... While Elvis Merzlikins is looking for a fresh start, a trade does not appear imminent for the Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender. TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun said Tuesday on Insider Trading that a move involving the disgruntled netminder may have to wait until the off-season. "No, there are no takers right now. The market is pretty soft for him. Why? He’s got three more years on his contract after this year at $5.4 million," LeBrun said. "I get that there’s maybe a mutual desire to have him move on, but he’s going to have to play a lot better when he gets a chance in goal to really reignite his marketplace before March 8.

Yeah ive mentioned a couple of those guys as potential targets for Hughes. Will be very interesting to see what he does. if we falter down the stretch and end up with a lottery pick he may wait, to see if we can draft a guy like Cellebrini, Lindstrom or Catton, Helenius, but i still think Hughes has some of these guys on the radar.

The Montreal Canadiens are expected to be busy at the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline. One player on their roster who is likely to be moved is pending unrestricted free agent (UFA) Sean Monahan. The Colorado Avalanche and the Winnipeg Jets have been the primary suitors in the sweepstakes over the last few weeks, but now, a new team is showing interest in him. According to The Fourth Period, the New York Rangers are linked to the skilled forward. The Rangers are in a position to add a player like Monahan. Filip Chytil has been sidelined since early on in the season due to a long-term concussion, and there is no guarantee of when he will be back.

Colorado Avalanche are worried about Alexandar Georgiev’s workload, and are seeking a backup goalie in trade market. Well, Jake Allen would be perfect.

Over these next several weeks, Minnesota Wild goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury will be a player to watch in the trade rumor mill. The Wild's chances of turning their season around are rapidly decreasing, and contenders are expected to target Fleury because of it.

While the Nashville Predators still plan to open extension talks with goaltender Juuse Saros this summer, a trade is not completely off the table ahead of the March 8 deadline. TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun reports the Predators will listen to offers on Saros, but would need a massive offer to consider moving the star netminder. It is looking like the goalie market is getting saturated. Does not bode well for HUGO & Jake Allen.
