Winless San Jose Sharks drop ninth in a row. All I can say is I'm glad it's not us.

Boston Bruins rookie Matthew Poitras will be staying with the NHL club this season. The 19-year-old will activate the first year of his entry-level contract when he plays his next game. He has three goals and five points in nine games this season. Seeing as the Bruins are fairly weak at center might be reason enough for him to make the team. I wonder who we took that year?

The NHL has announced that the Ottawa Senators will forfeit a first-round draft pick for their role in the July 2021 trade of Evgenii Dadonov from the Senators to the Vegas Golden Knights and the subsequent, invalidated March 2022 Dadonov trade between the Golden Knights and the Anaheim Ducks.

With the Leaf's getting booed off of the ice last night, I can only add that I'm so glad that all that talent is in the hands of Brad Treliving!

Washington Capitals center Nicklas Backstrom is taking a leave of absence from the team because of what he called an “ongoing injury situation” after a slow start to the season on his artificial left hip. Only 1 other player had this type of surgery and played 1 more year and he was done - Ed Jovanoski. Currently Patrick Kane is recuperating from this type of invasive hip surgery (it's a minor implant - unlike conventional hip replacement), which will alleviate bone on bone wear. Buyer beware on Patrick Kane - they will get their life of pain free back but I doubt he's able to compete at the high level. Only 1 athlete I know has been able to moderately recover and play at a competitive level and that's Andy Murray from Tennis.

Ottawa never forwarded any paperwork in the first place. Hence the heavy price. Just not sure why it took so long. If I choose to hire a new employee under the terms of an existing contract with a previous employer I would definitely have my legal team at least read the contract and not just rely on the previous employer saying it is all good and it will be in the mail soon. I don't think I'm alone in saying "trust but verify". Vegas were lazy and unprofessional, Ottawa management were either dishonest or incompetent.........I choose to think they were incompetent and the firing of the GM is warranted. However, if I am the Vegas owner I would be reading the riot act to my equally incompetent legal team, it took over 8 months for a third party to tell Vegas what they should have known before agreeing to the original deal................next time Bettman may not reward them for being so lazy in their due diligence. Caveat emptor is a fundamental concept in any business.

Not saying believe everything you read, but it appears there was due diligence. gnichols.substack.com/p/vegas-pushing-for-punishment-for

If there was an amendement to the contract LV wasnt privy to then its on Ottawa but who knows. We'll likely never know.

It looks like right-shot defenceman Timothy Liljegren will miss "significant time" with a lower-body injury, per coach Sheldon Keefe. "We are not going to know for sure until we get him home and get a picture," Keefe said, "but it is not short-term at this point with the way it looks."Keefe spoke to referee Wes McCauley before the second period about the play that led to the injury. "They didn't see the stick [of Bruins winger Brad Marchand] go in between his legs and can opener him to make him go feet first into the boards in the most dangerous area of the ice," Keefe said. "He didn't see it." There was no call on the play.
I know it's the Leafs, but all your zebras are watching this play and what? Can't see the can opener? Still pathetic!!!

Ottawa Senators head coach DJ Smith said forwards Ridly Greig and Mark Kastelic are "very doubtful" to play in the next few games after each suffered an injury during a 3-2 loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday. Greig sustained a lower-body injury in the first period and did not return, while Kastelic incurred a lower-body injury in the second period and was also ruled out for the remainder of the contest.
