The New York Rangers have called Jonny Brodzinski up from the Hartford Wolf. This move is likely related to Filip Chytil's upper-body injury.

Jack Hughes left with an upper-body injury in the first period of the New Jersey Devils' 4-1 loss to the St. Louis Blues at Enterprise Center on Friday. Coach Lindy Ruff had no update on him after the game and said Hughes would be evaluated Saturday. The center crashed shoulder first into the end boards at 9:56. He split two Blues defensemen and carried the puck into the slot before his shot was stopped by Jordan Binnington. Hughes then lost his balance and slid into the boards.

The Columbus Blue Jackets are sending forward Kent Johnson to the AHL's Cleveland Monsters, it was announced Friday. Forward Yegor Chinakhov is joining the big club in Johnson's place. The No. 5 overall pick in the 2021 NHL Draft, Johnson has one goal and two assists in eight games so far this season. He tallied 16 goals and 24 assists for 40 points in 79 games last year. The Athletic's Aaron Portzline notes that Johnson has struggled early this season and was benched for the final 14 minutes of Thursday's 4-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning after turning the puck over on the power play. Jackets not afraid to make the unpopular decisions.

Anaheim Ducks coach Greg Cronin has been fined $25,000 by the NHL for "unprofessional conduct" after an incident Monday in a game against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Cronin was issued a game misconduct at 19:25 of the second period and tossed after he appeared incensed that a goal scored by the Ducks had been overturned due to goaltender interference. The team challenged the call, but video review upheld the no-goal call, at which point Cronin went ballistic.
I guess you can't call it like it is.

WTF. Just saw for the first time Marchand's can-opener on the Leafs, Lilligren. How in the hell does he continue to get away with this stuff. Been going on for years...

It's the Bruins, they don't do it on purpose. It's all just very unfortunate, especially that it keeps happening to the other team.

Winless San Jose Sharks drop eleventh in a row. 10-2 to Pittsburg Penguins. Second game in a row they've given up 10 goals.

Blackhawks Connor Bedard and Kevin Korchinski played in their 10th NHL game. The Chicago rookies' three-year entry-level pro contracts have kicked in and they "burn" their first year in 2023-24. And they are doing pretty good.

Im still very curious about what the plan is for Primeau... He should be playing. He's on pace to play like 8 games this year. Not exactly ideal for a 24 year old. I know they dont want to risk exposing him to waivers but...

Is there going to be a time when suddenly they DO feel like they can sneak him through waivers? Or is the idea to just let him sit in the press box until the habs are far enough out of the playoff race that they're willing to start giving him regular starts. And i know it's irrational, but i really don't want to help Carolina in any way. Let them have goaltending problems.

I think if we were 2-8-1 or something the plan was to trade Allen (or maybe Monty) so you'd have Primeau as your backup in a 'write off' of a season but the team as a whole has overperformed. If we lose a few more in a row, I wouldnt be surprised at all to see one of the guys not named Primeau moved but right now, if they were to say, trade Allen - you're basically telling the team 'we're giving up for this year." I really dont think Hughes or Gorton expected this half-way decent start.

Washington Capitals center Nicklas Backstrom is taking a leave of absence from the team because of what he called an “ongoing injury situation” after a slow start to the season on his artificial left hip. Capitals GM: Nicklas Backstrom is 'unlikely' to return this season.

Edmonton loses again. Too bad we didn't have DeSmith to trade to them. I wonder if Jake Allen has the Oilers on his no fly zone?

What’s up with the Oilers - lost again and it wasn’t close. And McDavid,s playing like a “regular “ guy ( 10 points in 9 games ) 🤣
