The word seems to be that philly either doesnt believe he has a career ending injury or they are disputing the severity of it. Apparently it seems to stem from the fact that he was acquired at the trade deadline (march) & never played a game for them but then earlier this month he got married & was seen lifting his bride over his head - despite teling the team he was in rehab. Ooff. As an interesting aside, i remember colorado fans thinking sakic was a genius because he traded Newhook for 2 picks and then turned around & acquired Johansen who was "basically the same player" (I heard a number of avalanche fans say) Im certainly glad we got newhook and not Johansen.

Winnipeg traded this Rutger mgroaty to the penguins Wonder if they were waiting on us - like we had the framework of a deal in place but then went another way & acquired Laine.

My thoughts are with their families.
A tragedy on so many levels as the brothers were to be groomsmen at their sister's wedding today. Meaningful words are hard to find to describe the sorrow and anger I feel after reading the horrific details of the incident.

Leafs and Nick Robertson sign a one year deal Strong rumour Patches going to the leafs - Robertson got snookered as likely Max takes a spot or his spot in the lineup. I'm kind of happy Patches doesn't come here - we need to invest in youth vs. retreading out low cost low risk move despite his so called leadership - this is Suzuki's team to lead.

Two year extension for Crosby. Same cap hit.

Two year extension for Crosby. Same cap hit. Not suprising. I think if we were further along in the rebuild he *might* have considered signing that deal in Montreal but a lot of superstars really like playing for 1 team for their career.

I assume this is a stop gap because they dont think Bedard is ready to be captain yet. Foligno is like almost 40 i think?

Heβll be 37 come October . Signed for two more years . I just looked at their roster and yea I guess apart from bedard there isnβt anyone IMO that they could have given to besides him .
Taylor hall , TJ Brodie etc π€·ββοΈ

Taylor hall , TJ Brodie etc π€·ββοΈ Yeah. Their group is really young - Kurashev is probably the only guy who is sort of in that "mid 20s" core player - most everyone else they have is very old, very young, or not very good. Korchinski, Moore, Nezar may all get consideration too but i suspect Bedard is the guy. Levshunov will be a monster for them but as a Belarusian i doubt he gets consideration - at least not for a while. So Foligno probably makes sense in the short term - even though it seems odd on the surface.

Just stumbled across this piece and didn't hear about it before, maybe it's old news but still: www.rds.ca/hockey/lnh/lnh-kings-a-quebec-beaucoup-de-billets-encore-disponibles-1.19377710I mean, wow... who managed to come up with that ingenious idea in the first place?! Sure, let's use public funds to invite the Kings, Bruins, and Panthers to play 2 completely meaningless preseason games in the City of Quebec while selling the cheapest tickets for $89 CAD. According to that article, you could spend up to $450 to attend those games if you're so inclined. Needless to say, about 10,000 tickets are apparently still available for those games, which is totally shocking to me personally and just comes as a huge surprise

So Robertson taking heat over his Nylander push that got him banged up a bit. I have a different theory on the play after watching the replay several times. Wouldn't be the least bit surprised that Nylander felt the little push and believing it was a Hab stick doing the pushing he decided to take a dive trying to draw a penalty. Can't think of too many NHL players that would fall feet off the ice on that small a contact. Just my thought about it.
