Toronto Maple Leafs forward Ryan Reaves left Thursday's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets with a lower-body injury and did not return, the team said. His skate got caught in a rut and it didn't look good.
This seems to be happening more and more. Don't they monitor the ice conditions?!

Gene Carr, who played eight NHL seasons with five teams from 1971-79, has died. He was 72.
The former center had 215 points (79 goals, 136 assists) in 465 games with the St. Louis Blues, New York Rangers, Los Angeles Kings, Pittsburgh Penguins and Atlanta Flames and 13 points (five goals, eight assists) in 35 Stanley Cup Playoff games.

Centre Zach Aston-Reese was assigned to the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League on Friday. The 29-year-old from Staten Island, NY., has played in just one game with the Red Wings in 2023-24, his first season with the club.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have placed Vinnie Hinostroza on waivers today, according to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman. The move would pave the way for Hinostroza to be re-assigned to the Penguins’ AHL affiliate, the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins. Hinostroza is a pending unrestricted free agent with a $775k cap hit.

Oettinger, 24, appeared to suffer the injury following an awkward save on Sens forward Claude Giroux. Oettinger stopped two shots before he was replaced by Scott Wedgewood.
