Calgary Flames forward Jakob Pelletier took a hit from New York Rangers defenceman Jacob Trouba Monday night and was forced to leave the game with an upper-body injury. The hit happened early in the first period when Trouba drilled the 22-year-old in front of the Calgary bench. Pelletier appeared to be favouring his shoulder after the play and went to the dressing room, eventually being ruled out for the night. Trouba was not penalized on the play. youtu.be/yVTpk01Sh9Q

Jack Hughes calls out goalies and sends message to GM. Subtle? Yes. I guess star players can make innuendos. Should be interesting if Fitzgerald acts on this. Course everyone knew NewJersey needed a goaltending upgrade. It definitely won't be Jake Allen. (▰˘︹˘▰)

Yeah, NJ really needs a #1 and that's not Allen. Allen is more of a Plan B for a team needing a veteran to support a younger goalie or play a tandem. NJ reportedly had a trade in place for Markstrom that fell through and they're reportedly looking at Merzlikins next.

Chicago rookie Connor Bedard may have a broken jaw, but that did not stop him from taking to the ice on Monday, according to several reports. Bedard suffered a fractured jaw on Jan. 5 when he took a hit from the Devils' Brendan Smith. He underwent surgery last week. But there he was on Monday, donning a non-contact jersey and skating with the team's other injured players. Connor Bedard will miss at least another six weeks because of a fractured jaw sustained on Jan. 5, Chicago Blackhawks coach Luke Richardson said Monday. The update comes less than a week after the rookie center resumed skating. Bedard could play 1st game for Blackhawks since Jan. 5 18-year-old forward sustained fractured jaw on hit from Devils defenseman Smith
