Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk was not able to finish Friday's 5-3 loss to the Arizona Coyotes due to an undisclosed injury. Head coach Jacques Martin did not have an update on his condition after the game. Tkachuk appeared to be shaken up by a collision near centre ice in the third period with Coyotes forward Liam O'Brien. Tkachuk was slow to get up after the collision and appeared in some discomfort as he made his way to the bench, but did remain in the game for a couple of more shifts.

Vancouver was already rumored to be in the market for a defenceman, ideally a righty. This will probably boost their enthusiasm to find one.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed center Gabriel Szturc (pronounced Shturk) to a three-year NHL contract covering the 2024-25 through 2026-27 seasons, vice president and general manager Julien BriseBois announced today. Szturc, 20, is currently the captain for the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League and has produced 27 goals and 67 points in 53 games during the 2023-24 season. Szturc ranks second on the Rockets for assists (40), tied for second for plus/minus (+13) and third for goals and scoring. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound Szturc is in his third season with the Rockets and has accumulated 67 goals and 187 points in 176 career games with the squad plus an additional two goals and three points in nine playoff contests. Szturc has competed for Czechia at the IIHF World Junior Championship the past two seasons. In 2023, he helped lead Czechia to the silver medal after notching five goals and eight points in seven contests, ranking second on his team for goals and tied for second for scoring. Szturc, who went undrafted, was an invitee to Tampa Bay’s training camp prior to the 2023-24 season. Again. This is how teams aquire prospects when they have no draft picks. This is Tampa's 2nd recent signing.

The kid already has a black eye from Previous fight m.youtube.com/watch?v=iZ2cyjnxe5EMe thinks Wifi gonna have to fight both these guy when they meet Reaves is a waste of space and not worth taking Wifi off the ice for 5 minutes. Rempe's a freaking monster. I don't have an issue with Wifi fighting either of these guys if it's in defence of a fellow player but Wifi is more valuable to us on the ice and not sitting or getting injured because of some staged fight. Pick your moments.

Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Ilya Lyubushkin sustained a head injury in Saturday's 4-3 win over the New York Rangers, according to head coach Sheldon Keefe. “It’s a head injury. We’ll have to get it figured out," Keefe said following the game. Lyubushkin appeared to suffer the injury when he was checked into the boards by Rangers' forward Matt Rempe. "Comes a long way. Leaves his feet," Keefe said of the hit. "Hits him in the head. Injury." And no penalty called on the play. A definite charge!!! Reaves should have clocked him. He did try. He did get some good shots in.
