The Toronto Maple Leafs have put a little more faith in Head Coach Sheldon Keefe, who the team signed to a two-year contract extension on Wednesday. This extension comes as Keefe approached the final year of his previous contract, solidifying his position as a guiding force for the team in the near future and putting to rest any immediate questions about his future with the club.

CapFriendly has announced that the Pittsburgh Penguins have signed a pair of defensemen to PTO's for their upcoming training camp in September. Mark Pysyk and Libor Hajek have both inked tryout agreements with the Penguins that will give both defenders an opportunity to earn a contract with the team. The Pittsburgh Penguins signed forward Austin Wagner to a PTO. The 26-year-old Wagner played in seven games with the Chicago Blackhawks last season, scoring one goal and one assist. The Calgary native added nine goals and three assists over 24 games with the AHL's Ontario Reign.

Michkov was a healthy scratch for the first two games of the KHL regular season. The KHL is not a development league but Philly knew that when they drafted him, reading between the lines, it appears that an attitude adjustment may be required by the coach or the player..................shades of DD?

Senators extend jake Sanderson 8 years $64,4 m Shows how much I follow hockey π never heard of him π€¦π»ββοΈπ€£ Heβs a good upcoming D-man, but the sens are paying based on potential vs a delivered body of work. It certainly appears to be a substantial overpayment and a large risk to pay on future play. Heβs had 1 year of NHL experience. I understand locking up young players in a period where the cap is expected to increase, but this one is a bit of a stretch - did Sanderson really generate Cole Caufield performance in his 1 year of play to warrant that lockup?
