Bieksa is bang on with this. Dirty player, takes cheap shots, then turtles, and the league hasn't cracked down on him. A lot like Marchand.

We've seen it here. Just a matter of time before he gets his clock fixed.

The Avalanche quietly placed defenseman Bowen Byram on injured reserve over the weekend, per CapFriendly’s transactions log. Head coach Jared Bednar confirmed the news yesterday after their 8-4 loss to the Panthers, saying that Byram’s lower-body injury isn’t considered severe and is expected to sideline him for seven to 14 days.

Other teams having some injuries right now instead of us.....kind of nice for a change! True, althouh we had some bad ones. Our #2 and #3 centres, gone for the year, our franchies goalie gone... for good? Lets hope we've turned a corner now though & can get back to league-average (or less) injuries! 2 years in a row of breaking man-games lost to injury is really not something id like to revisit again

Matthews ( 11.6) Tavares (11) Marner (10.9) Nylander ($11.5) Rielly ($7.5) I know that Tavares & Marner are both UFA in 2 years but wow. next year the leafs will be using 59%($49.5) of their cap on 5 players. 41% will be divied between the remaining 16-17 players.

just not enough money to pay for half decent players that you need on the team to be good enough to win a cup imo

All the way Leafs is the yearly battle cry down here. Its kind of crazy to think that - unless they win this year, which i doubt - they will have effectively wasted a core of Matthews, Marner, Tavares, Nylander and Rielly. That should have been a blueprint for several cups & all they got is 1 playoff round win. At least McDavid & co have made it to the conference finals!

Gotta love management at MLSE for this sequence 1)2018 - Sign Tavares to a rich free agent - effectively rewarding him for being a winner of playoff success with the islanders - cost $11M 7 years with an NMC - power to the player 2) Fall of 2018 - holdout - reward William Nylander with 6 year deal average 7M for his prior 3 years of playoff success 3) 2019 - reward Auston Matthews with a 5 year $11.6M deal for all his playoff success in his 3 prior years 4) 2019 reward Mitch Marner for his prior 3 years of massive playoff success with a 6 year deal AAV $10.9M 5) 2022 - reward Morgan Reilly with a team friendly deal for 8 years NMC - AAV $7.5M 6) Effective for 2024 reward Auston Matthews once again for tremendous playoff success winning 1 round - 4 year deal with full NMC $13.25M AAV 7) Reward William Nylander - 8 year NMC deal for all his hitting, backchecking and gritty effort in the playoffs -- AAV $11.5M Ya baby - let's keep paying based on potential, we have demonstrated we can win with this core!! Rinse & Repeat anyone?
