Calgary Flames goaltender Jacob Markstrom is out day-to-day with a lower-body injury, the NHL club announced Tuesday. Markstrom, who is 13-11-2 with a 2.59 goals-against average and .912 save percentage this season, left Calgary's practice early Monday for what head coach Ryan Huska called "maintenance." The 33-year-old Swedish goaltender has been excellent for the resurgent Flames of late, winning five of his last six starts.

Red Wings winger Patrick Kane is out for the remainder of the team’s current road trip, according to a report by Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press. Kane is dealing with a lower-body injury, says head coach Derek Lalonde, which he suffered in the first period of Sunday’s win in Toronto. The 35-year-old, who underwent hip surgery in the off-season before signing with Detroit in December as a free agent, lasted just 1:07 before suffering this most recent injury.

Connor Bedard sustained an undisclosed injury for the Chicago Blackhawks in the first period of a 4-2 loss to the New Jersey Devils at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, on Friday. Bedard was injured after taking a hit from Devils defenseman Brendan Smith at 10:42. Bedard crossed into the offensive zone and was checked by Smith in the slot. He left the ice with his hand at his mouth. Blackhawks center Connor Bedard is expected to miss six to eight weeks after he had surgery to repair his fractured jaw. The team announced the operation and timeline for the 18-year-old rookie on Wednesday. It means he will miss the Feb. 3 NHL All-Star Game in Toronto — dealing a blow to the league. Chicago rookie Connor Bedard may have a broken jaw, but that did not stop him from taking to the ice on Monday, according to several reports. Bedard suffered a fractured jaw on Jan. 5 when he took a hit from the Devils' Brendan Smith. He underwent surgery last week. But there he was on Monday, donning a non-contact jersey and skating with the team's other injured players.

Anaheim Ducks forward Leo Carlsson left Thursday’s game against the Calgary Flames after sustaining an injury from a collision with Flames defenceman MacKenzie Weegar. The incident happened mid-way through the third, as Carlsson collided with Weegar along the boards in front of the penalty box. Weegar fell on Carlsson, who appeared to injure his knee. That could hurt. Bright young prospect. Anaheim Ducks rookie Leo Carlsson is expected to be out of the lineup approximately four-to-six weeks due to a sprained right MCL. Anaheim Ducks rookie Leo Carlsson will return from an MCL injury and is in the team’s lineup for Monday’s game against the Florida Panthers, the team announced. Carlsson suffered the injury on Dec. 21 and was originally expected to miss four to six weeks. Carlsson, selected second overall by the Ducks at the 2023 NHL Draft, has eight goals and 15 points through 23 games in his rookie season. Quick healers.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are placing depth forward, Radim Zohorna, on waivers, according to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman. If Zohorna does clear and is reassigned to the team’s AHL affiliate, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, it will mark Zohorna’s first time back in the AHL since late October of this season. Yay or Nay?

Saturday's loss to the Jets was a costly one for the Wild, as both Kirill Kaprizov and Filip Gustavsson left the game with injuries. Kaprizov was cross-checked to the back twice, while Gustavsson left with a lower-body injury. The Wild have activated leading scorer Kirill Kaprizov off injured reserve prior to the last game against the Coyotes.

The Vancouver Canucks have assigned defenseman Mark Friedman and Linus Karlsson to their AHL affiliate, the Abbotsford Canucks, with Friedman’s demotion coming by way of a conditioning loan. Anyone else notice how many games the Leafs have won since resigning Nylander? The guy has gone into full float mode since getting his deal. WTG Trev, your doing a fine job over there. For a team that was supposed to be contending for 1st in the East,, their playoff spot is far from a lock.

Keefe has had an easy job so far just opening the bench door for that team. Let's see how he responds to some adversity. Leafs have had an easy schedule so far - Sharks ffs back to back. Let's see how they do on this run before the allstar break of Calgary (should win), then Vancouver and Seattle back to back followed by home and home with Winnipeg.

Excuse me while i go wash out my mouth with soap and water.

LOL -It would just make my season, if that team missed the playoffs - I guess I can dream, but would love Detroit and Tampa Bay to rise up and one of those metropolitan teams nudge them out.

Whitney then says he listed those teams because they are the only teams that have less regulation wins than the Leafs . He says leafs have 0 chance of winning the cup
