Calgary Flames goaltender Jacob Markstrom is out day-to-day with a lower-body injury, the NHL club announced Tuesday. Markstrom, who is 13-11-2 with a 2.59 goals-against average and .912 save percentage this season, left Calgary's practice early Monday for what head coach Ryan Huska called "maintenance." The 33-year-old Swedish goaltender has been excellent for the resurgent Flames of late, winning five of his last six starts. Goaltender Jacob Markstrom was on the ice ahead of Calgary Flames' practice on Wednesday after missing Tuesday's game against the Arizona Coyotes with a lower-body injury.

After eight years out of professional hockey, former first-round pick Cody Hodgson is making a comeback. Hodgson signed a professional tryout contract with the AHL's Milwaukee Admirals on Wednesday. The 33-year-old forward last played during the 2015-16 season, splitting time between the Nashville Predators and the Admirals. He retired after that season, joining the Predators’ youth hockey and fan development program. Hodgson was diagnosed with RYR-1-related malignant hyperthermia during the 2015-16 after dealing with "numerous injuries, severe symptoms, and episodes of rhabdomyolysis," according to the RYR-1 Foundation. A very talented player in his day.

Adam Gaudette is back in the NHL after spending more than a year and a half in the minors. He's determined to make his latest chance count. Gaudette on Thursday night played his first game in the league since April 2022, suiting up for the St. Louis Blues in their 5-2 loss to the Washington Capitals.
