The Calgary Flames placed centre Adam Ruzicka and defenceman Nick Desimone on waivers on Wednesday. Ruzicka, a big 6'4" warm body Slovakian center. Can we use? if he falls to us? The Calgary Flames lost a pair of players on waivers Thursday, with the New Jersey Devils claiming defenceman Nick DeSimone and the Arizona Coyotes claiming forward Adam Ruzicka. Oh well. Must not have been worth a flyer on Ruzicka. |

The Pittsburgh Penguins have acquired forward Maxim Cajkovic from the Minnesota Wild in exchange for defenseman Will Butcher, it was announced today by President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Kyle Dubas.

The Philadelphia Flyers and forward Owen Tippett have agreed to an eight-year, $49.6 million contract extension, league sources confirmed Friday. The average annual value of this deal is $6.2 million, with the deal finalized Friday.

Nick Bonino will be placed on waivers by the Rangers on Thursday. Bonino, who did not practice Thursday, signed a one-year, $800,000 contract with the Rangers on July 1. He has five points (one goal, four assists) in 45 games this season. New York Rangers Nick Bonino cleared waivers on Friday and was assigned to the AHL's Hartford Wolfpack. |

Ville Husso took a giant step toward a return to the Detroit Red Wings goal crease on Thursday. The Red Wings are activating Husso from injured reserved and he is joining the AHL Grand Rapids Griffins on a conditioning assignment.

Ryan Poehling a 6'3" defensive center has played well enough to earn a two-year contract extension with the Flyers. He will earn $1.9 million each of the next two seasons and has turned into a reliable penalty killer for the Flyers.

Before the start of the 2023-24 season, former Edmonton Oilers forward Zack Kassian announced his retirement from professional hockey. This came after an unsuccessful PTO stint with the Anaheim Ducks. However, after a few months away from the game, Kassian is resuming his career. This is because he has signed a contract with HC Sparta Praha of the Czech Extraliga.

Don Granato reflected on the loss of forward Jack Quinn in the aftermath of the Buffalo Sabres’ 5-2 win over the San Jose Sharks inside SAP Center on Saturday. Quinn left the game with 12:53 remaining in the third period after a collision with the boards forced him to fall awkwardly on his left leg.
“Disturbing when you see a guy (get injured) that means so much and works every day, competes every day, and he’s such a big part of us going, us playing our identity, being ourselves,” Granato said. “It was devastating to see him go down the way he did.

With the Kings struggling as of late, they’ve decided to give a different youngster an opportunity. The team announced that they’ve recalled center Alex Turcotte from AHL Ontario. They had an open roster spot so no corresponding move needed to be made.
