As the Senators prepared to face the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday night at the Crypto.com Arena, the club learned it will be without top defenceman Thomas Chabot after he suffered a lower body ailment late in the third period of the club’s 2-1 loss to the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday. Assessed a holding penalty against Anaheim’s Frank Vatrano with only 41 seconds left in the game, the TSN broadcast showed him holding his right knee and in serious discomfort in the penalty box. Chabot left the ice without putting any weight on his right leg and limped down the hall.

They’ve used some of that space immediately as they’ve recalled winger Brendan Brisson from AHL Henderson, The master of the class of management.

Midway through the middle frame, the Canucks made an unexpected lineup move when DeSmith replaced Demko and the starting netminder went directly down the tunnel. What led Demko to leave was not immediately clear but the Canucks announced at the beginning of the third that he would not return to the game. Sounds ominous. Hope it's not serious.

Here's a rule i never heard before. Apparently if you pull your goalie in OT and get scored on, you don't get the loser point.

The Chicago Blackhawks have agreed to a two-year contract with forward Landon Slaggert. Chicago announced the move before Sunday night's 7-4 win over Arizona. The entry-level deal runs through the 2024-25 season with a $912,500 salary cap hit. The 21-year-old Slaggert is expected to join Chicago for its Tuesday morning skate ahead of its home game against Anaheim. Coach Luke Richardson said he wanted to give Slaggert time to acclimate, and then likely make his pro debut later in the week. Slaggert had 20 goals and 11 assists in 36 games for Notre Dame this season. The South Bend, Indiana, native had 47 goals and 45 assists in 136 games with the Fighting Irish. Notre Dame concluded its season with a 4-3 loss to Michigan on Saturday night. Slaggert was selected by the Blackhawks in the third round of the 2020 NHL draft.

Here's a rule i never heard before. Apparently if you pull your goalie in OT and get scored on, you don't get the loser point. For real?!? How have we never heard this before? Yup and somebody brought up a valid point. If the strategy was to win against the team your chasing for a playoff spot then why give them a point by letting it go to OT? Wouldn't the wiser move be to pull the goalie in regulation and go for the win there knowing that the most you gain by winning in OT is 1 point? You have more to gain by winning in regulation (2 points) and losing in OT gets you nothing as does losing in regulation.
